AION 2 Companion: play better with little time, without risking your account
The busy player's problem
I like AION 2, but I do not have hours to play. Opening ten websites to know what to do in a zone, in which order, and how to improve my gear eats into play time.
So I built a companion for myself.
Two tools
- The route overlay: a transparent mini-map on top of the game. It shows what is left to do in the zone (strongholds, sealed dungeons, hidden cubes, bosses) and the shortest order to do it all. Or, if I only have 30 minutes, the best plan for that time.
- The advisor: it fetches my character from the official "Character info" page of the game's website, then tells me what to improve, in which order and at what real cost.
The overlay can also scan the game map: it recognizes the zone and my position, ticks what is already done and draws the numbered route right on the map.
Rule number one: never risk the account
Many game tools read game memory, sniff network traffic or automate clicks. That is exactly what gets an account banned.
Here, everything is passive:
- No reading of game memory, no access to the game process
- No automation of keyboard or mouse
- No interception of network traffic
- Only separate windows, screenshots and the public web API, for my own character, with a cache so it is not overloaded
For map data, I only use a source whose license allows it, with the credit it asks for.
What I learned
The best tool is not the one that does the most, it is the one you can use with peace of mind.
The current version also has a "Week" tab with the game's daily and weekly counters. Next up: following the latest updates for my classes, Spirit Master and Sorcerer.
